Contest Rules
This page provides a short overview of the contest rules for the National Finals. Specific rules and other details can be found by clicking in the appropriate sections. It is the responsibility of the contestants and their parents to fully understand all rules and comply.
Overview:
The Foundation reserves the right to verify the date of birth of the contestants and revoke the rank(s) and prize(s) in case of any discrepancy with the contest rules. The Foundation conducts educational activities on "best efforts basis" only. The Foundation, its officers, and volunteers are not responsible for any human error and consequent hardship caused to any person(s) or organization(s).

Spelling and Vocabulary Bee : These contests will be held in 3 phases. Phase I is written with 25 questions. Phase II consists of 3 oral rounds. Phase I and II are open to all contestants. A final Phase III consists of oral rounds with elimination to identify the top 3 ranks overall. Top 10 contestants based on a combined Phase I and II scores will move on to Phase III. In case of a tie at the 10th rank, the total number of children going into Phase III can be higher.

Math Bee : The Math Bee will be held in 2 phases. Phase I is written with 20 questions. Phase II consists of lightning round with 20 questions. Phase I and II are open to all contestants. In Phase II, a question is projected and read. The contestant has 45 seconds to answer. Click here for detailed rules.
Essay Writing Bee : This contest will be held ONLY for the senior level. The topic for the essay will be given on site in the contest room. The contestants will be handed over the essay booklets 10 minutes before the contest begins. There is a 1,000-word limit on the essay in the one-hour long contest. Click here for detailed rules.
Geography Bee : This contest will be held ONLY for the senior level. There will be 2 phases. Phase I is written with 30 questions. Phase II will have 5 oral rounds. Click here for detailed rules.
Public Speaking Bee : This contest will also be held ONLY for the senior level. The speech topic will be given on-site, 30 minutes before the contest begins. Each speech is limited to 3 minutes. Click here for detailed rules.
Brain Bee: Brain Bee will be held in 2 phases. In Phase I, each contestant is asked one question in each round and will be allowed 15 seconds to answer. Each contestant is allowed three wrong answers before being retired. When only 5 finalists are left, the Phase II part of the contest starts. None of the scores from the Phase I count in Phase II. During the Phase II, each finalist is again allowed three wrong answers before being retired. Click here for detailed rules.
