Shivani has won the National Championship for "six and under" age group at Jack & Jill National Spelling Bee contest held at Indianapolis, IN on April 22, 2006. This National Spelling Bee contest is on Anatomy and Health/Nutrition terminologies and organized by Children's Better Health Institute and Saturday Evening Post, Indianapolis , IN. The championship prize includes:
- An educational scholarship of $2,500 from Hanover College of Indianapolis
In addition to that, she also won the top honor Grand Prize, by competing with and winning over champions of all other age groups (6 to 12 years). The Grand Prize includes:
- A Trophy
- An educational scholarship of $2,500 from Hanover College of Indianapolis
- A Raleigh bicycle
- A Cram Globe
- An all expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. with a parent to cover the 79th National Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee (www.spellingbee.com) on May 31/ June 01 2006 as a "Cub Reporter" of Saturday Evening Post, Indianapolis , IN.
Shivani's article and Interviews will be published in their magazine, "U.S. Kids" after the Scripps event. The local newspaper "The Oregonian" is also publishing an article on Shivani in this week's Thursday edition.

Shortly after winning his fourth consecutive Post-Dispatch Spelling Bee
and at his father's urging, Rajiv Tarigopula ran across the Maryville
University auditorium, lugging a 12 1/2-pound dictionary, headed toward
the boy he had just defeated.
He planned to offer the tome of more than 470,000 words to runner-up
Matthew Swenson, a home schooler from Belleville, so he could use it to
prepare for next year. But Rajiv bounded back up the stairs to his
parents, with the Merriam-Webster's Third New International Dictionary still in his
hands.

Colleyville home school student Samir Patel won his fourth consecutive Star-Telegram Regional Spelling Bee and an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to compete May 29-June 2 in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Eesha Purohit won the Tribune-Star/Wabash Valley Regional Spelling Bee for the second year in a row and will represent the Wabash Valley in the 78th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

Nandhini Sundaresan correctly spelled more than 20 words to win the
Georgis state spelling bee. She wqualified to represent Georgia in the
Scripps National Spelling Bee on May 31.

Mouctika Paluri won the Greater Grand Rapids Spelling Bee. The fifth-grader
at Kentwood's Endeavor Elementary School lasted more than 30 rounds, never
missing a word and claiming an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington for
the Scripps National Spelling Bee on May 31.

Kavya Shivashanker, 2004 National Junior Spelling Bee Champion, recently won the first Olathe Spelling Bee on Thursday. She will represent Kansas as a competitor in the 79th Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee, which will be broadcast on ESPN.

Nilesh Raval, 2005 National Senior Spelling Bee Champion, won the Saginaw
County Spelling Bee and earned his third trip to Washington, D.C., where
he'll represent the region in the 79th annual Scripps Howard National
Spelling Bee.

Vikas Vavilala, 2005 NSF National Contestant, won the 2006 Hamilton County
Regional Spelling Bee Thursday and earned his trip to Washington, D.C.,
where he'll represent the region in the 79th annual Scripps Howard National
Spelling Bee.

Dhanya Tadipatri, 13, an eighth-grader at Shelton Intermediate School,
is the third child in her family to win the annual spelling bee for
fifth- to eighth-graders who won spelling bees in their towns. Dhanya
will travel to Washington, D.C., in May to participate in the Scripps

For the second year in a row, the 10-year-old Central Middle School
pupil out-spelled 44 other students, defending his title as the youngest
champ in the regional bee’s history. Akshat Shekhar will go to
Washington, D.C., to represent the South Shore in the 79th
Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee from May 31 to June 1.
