TFAS SUMMER RESEARCH PROJECTS (FOR HIGH SCHOOL/ COLLEGE STUDENTS)

TFAS will help finding research projects during the summer, in India in Science as well as Liberal arts to help those exceptionally talented and motivated youth to enrich their development and college applications. Summer student research internship in national laboratories in India can be arranged for interested competent students, upto 4 participants starting form summer 2002. The program duration is for two months, July 1st to August 30th. At present no stipend is available; accommodation can be provided in the guest houses of the laboratories for those who need. Subsidized lunch of very good quality is available in the Institution's cafeteria. ( The mentor will be a nationally well known scientist and the laboratory and projects will be of cutting edge quality. Most of the mentoring scientists have excellent professional contacts in USA and travel often to USA.)

Research projects can be arranged in Liberal Arts in the areas of Health, Education, Environment, Village Development ( primary health & education) and Democratic Reforms ( Politics). Placement can be secured upto 4 participants, in very renowned organizations - monitored and proctored by an experienced mentor. Duration 8 weeks July 1st- Aug 30th 2002.

We believe these TFAS sponsored projects in India will be very useful for our youth to learn more about the infrastructure of India as well as getting exposed to our culture & language. In addition to having an enrichment and experience, students will produce original papers. The liberal arts projects are expected to be in Andhra Pradesh towns & villages.

Requirements: Minimum age -- 15 years; Maturity and Motivation are important. Willing to adopt to Indian standards of living.

ALL EXPENSES -- AIR FARE, BOARDING AND LODGING -- WILL BE BORN BY THE ANDIDATES. TFAS WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR LIABILITY. There is an option to drop out after a 2 week trial period if there are unavoidable reasons, but we discourage from dropping out of the program. We want this TFAS Youth project to become successful & wish to continue this project for years to come.
