National Finals

The 2016 National Finals will be held on August 20 and 21 at The University of South Florida in Tampa, FL.

Finals Contest Schedule:
August 20, 2016: Spelling, Vocabulary, Science, Essay Writing and Public Speaking
August 21, 2016: Math, Geography and Brain Bee

Participation is only by invitation with Priority list candidate registration followed by Wait-list candidate registration as communicated by email. Regardless of the ranks at the Regional Contests, invitees are selected based on their total score. A cut-off score is determined based on the capacity of the rooms for a given contest.

Registration Schedule:
Priority List:Registration opens on May 17, 2016. Closes on May 24, 2016.
Wait List:     Registration opens on May 25, 2016. Closes on May 31, 2016.

Note:       Deadline time is 11:59 pm EDT on the deadline date.

Children on the Priority list are guaranteed a seat until May 24th, but first come first served afterwards!

Essay Writing and Public Speaking

These two contests are open to those who are in high school. Further, even if you did not participate in the Senior Essay Writing (EW3) or Senior Public Speaking (PS3) contests at the regional level, you are permitted to participate in the National Finals.

Brain Bee

Any child in 8th grade through 11th grade can participate in Brain Bee. As part of preparation, you can download Brain Facts at
Brain Bee contestants should not participate in Senior Geography Bee, as there is a scheduling conflict.

Special Note: The first rank holder at the NSF Brain Bee will no longer be able to automatically participate at 2017 US Brian Bee. This is a major change since 2016. Every child who is interested in the 2017 US Brain Bee will have to participate in a local chapter of the US Brain Bee.
