Volunteer Profile - Raghavendra Paturi

How I learned about North South Foundation

I am associated with NSF since 1990. Met Dr. Chitturi in chicago 1989, the year I came to US as a graduate student in Chemical Engineering at UIC, chicago, IL. I was skeptical to begin with the scholarships in India, eventually the appeal of a small amount making a greater impact in steering the lives of many convinced me.

About My Family & Myself

I’m a practicing chemical/ mineral engineer and my wife Jaya is a medical technologist. Children: Deepti & Sowmya are pursuing medical education.

What I enjoy most in my association with NSF

There are many aspects that I enjoy at NSF:

  • team work
  • opportunity to help others
  • meet many generous and kind people who want to help others
  • realizing & working to make the dreams come true
  • promoting my mottos: “cherish the pleasure of volunteerism” & “When I can do, anyone can do”

Other things I would like to share

Pleasure of volunteerism is my driving force to be associated with the foundation. I thoroughly enjoy what I do at the foundation. My association with the foundation is a continuous learning experience. I see a positive change in my attitude, perceptions, and interactions with people & my own self. At the end I feel myself good about being able to make a difference in and around my surroundings.
