Education - A Lifelong Gift and a Human Right: How Your Ideas and the NorthSouth Foundation can help

It’s time for the Panacea Challenge 2022!! This challenge stemmed from an idea Dr. Balu Natarajan had in 2020 to engage NorthSouth students with a creative activity during quarantine, and it was a huge success, thanks to all of the students, families, and volunteers!

This year, for the third time, we have a new theme for the contest.

Elementary students will be challenged to describe what NorthSouth means to them: how it has benefited them, and how it can continue to do so. Middle and high schoolers will be challenged to think of ways that NorthSouth Foundation can help to reduce educational inequality.

Since 1989, NorthSouth Foundation has strived to break down existing barriers to educational access both locally and globally. NorthSouth has distributed more than 20,000 scholarships tot

Students who need financial support. Recipients of these awards have gone on to start successful careers as teachers, doctors, engineers, and more, all while uplifting their families and giving back to their communities. NorthSouth has also responded to educational inequities that have been highlighted in the United States over the past couple of years by distributing laptops to underserved communities to help students continue their education during the pandemic.

That being said, NorthSouth is just getting started! Our organization strives to reach a greater number of students and empower our learners to reach even greater heights.

For the Panacea Challenge this year, we challenge you to explore the importance of education as a human right by highlighting barriers to educational access and/or proposing initiatives to further NorthSouth Foundation in its effort to conquer educational inequity.

So, the prompt is:

What can NorthSouth do to increase educational access for all children, particularly the underserved in the U.S.?

What idea do you have to promote education for all, and how could NorthSouth assist?

Good luck! We are excited to see what you all come up with this year!"
