Welcome to Mysore Chapter

Mysore is the second largest city in the state of Karnataka which used to be called "Mysore State" from 1956-1973 and the main language is Kannada. It is about 150 Km from Bangalore. The name Mysore is derived from a version of Mahishūru, meaning the abode of Mahisha (a buffalo headed daemon killed by Goddess Chamundeshwari). Mysore is mentioned in the Mahabharata as Mahishaka Kingdom in ancient India.

Mysore chapter is a new chapter, started in 2012 by US Volunteer Manju Arasaiah.
