WHY LEARNING JOURNEY

Four things every journey builds.

Instead of one learning path for every student, choose learning opportunities based on grade level, current knowledge, interests and academic goals.

01

Holistic development

Build critical thinking, problem-solving, social and emotional skills while developing a love for learning and the confidence to try new things without fear of failure.

02

Learning across the year

Choose from Summer, Spring and Fall Learning Journey programs, creating a continuous path from exploration to deeper learning and practice.

03

Explore. Learn. Discover.

For elementary and middle school students: explore a variety of subjects, build a broad set of concepts, stay on track or get ahead at school and discover areas your child enjoys.

04

A launchpad for high school

High school students can learn from high-achieving instructors and gain valuable insight as they prepare for the next stage of their journey.

Two ways to learn.

Choose live classes with a coach, or learn at your own pace. Start with where your child is today.

Students in a live coach-led class

Coach-led classes

Live, instructor-led sessions where students learn in real time, interact with coaches, and receive instant feedback in a structured environment.

Fixed schedule Live feedback Group pace
  • Real-time Q&A with a coach every session
  • Best for students who thrive on structure and accountability
  • Small group cohorts, matched by skill level

Asynchronous classes

Asynchronous classes are self-paced programs with no live sessions, allowing students to learn anytime using recorded materials and resources.

Learn anytime Self-paced Great for travel
  • No fixed class time — fits around travel and time zones
  • Best for independent learners who like to revisit material
  • Recorded lessons plus practice sets, on demand

TWO PATHS

What are the two paths students can take in the Learning Journey?

Enrichment Path

Year-round supplemental courses across Math, Science, English, Technology, Social Studies, and Life Skills -- Fall, Spring, and Summer terms, taught by volunteer caches in small groups.

Competitive Path

Prep for NorthSouth's own Spelling Bee, Vocabulary Bee, Geography Bee, History Bee, Math Bee, Science Bee and more -- building toward Regional Contests and National Finals.

From one scholarship to a
community that keeps
opening doors.

NorthSouth Foundation was incorporated in 1989 as a nonprofit in Illinois. That same year, the scholarship program began with one scholarship. Today, the organization brings together students, parents, volunteers and educators through educational programs and opportunities in the U.S. and beyond.
