BrainBee Coaching Program Leads
Dr. Chitra Venkat is a clinical professor of neurology and an educator at Stanford University. She obtained her medical degree in India followed by consecutive residencies in internal medicine and neurology. She had completed advanced training in stroke neurology and neurointensive care. She is passionate about neuroscience and is looking forward to training highly motivated students to compete at a high level in brain bees and thereby further their interest in neuroscience as a career. She will be available during the coaching season to answer questions from the students live or via email.
Priyanka is a senior in high school in Reno, NV. She has participated in the Brain Bee since the eighth grade and placed in the 2019 NSF National Brain Bee Competition. She is passionate about neuroscience and has taken college courses in both neuroscience and psychology.
Aditi is a junior at North Oldham High School in Louisville, Kentucky. She has participated in Brain Bee for several years and was named the State Champion in 2020 with an invitation to participate in the USA National Competition. She has a passion for neuroscience as a leadership member of two international organizations. Aditi conducts breast cancer research which she has presented at numerous competitions. From this work, she was named an ISEF Finalist in 2020. Her other achievements include, Science Olympiad state winner in Anatomy and Physiology, USACO National semifinalist, and Governor’s Cup as a district and regional winner, debating awards, Kentucky’s You Be The Chemist State Champion.
Adhvika Arunkumar is a senior from Londonderry, NH. She has competed in both IBB and SBB and has consistently placed in the top 5 at nationals in both bees. Adhvika is passionate about STEM and has taken courses in advanced biological techniques. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her dog Leo, cook, and read books.
Aryan Verma is a freshman at the University of Texas at Dallas, majoring in neuroscience and minoring in public health on the pre-med track. He has been competing in NSF competitions since he was 6 years old. He has multiple brain bee awards: the 2019 NSF Senior Brain Bee National Champion, 2nd place at the Kansas State Brain Bee (Junior Yr), Champion of the Kansas State Brain Bee and qualified to the U.S. Brain Bee Championship. Aryan is a 2 times national qualifier to the National Science Bowl competition and a 3 times recipient of the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award. He is also a National Merit Finalist and an AP National Scholar. Aryan has extensive experience in tutoring and teaching young students. He has been a math tutor for Mathnasium for the past two years, assisting 1st-12th graders.
Varun Vasireddy is a rising sophomore from Saint Louis Missouri. This is his third season of NSF coaching and has previously coached MB3 and Senior Science. Varun was an Intermediate Brain Bee Champion for NSF, was a runner up in the Saint Louis Brain Bee, and was the International Champion in HOSA- Future Health Professionals Behavioral Health (neuroscience and the basis of how we make decisions) examination. He was recently accepted into The New York Junior Academy of Sciences as a Young Member/Research Fellow. He is a podcast anchor for Simply Neuroscience and interviews professors from the top neuroscience collegiate programs. In his free time Varun likes to read, keep tabs on the stock market, and be involved with sports.
