Disha Nistala

Disha is a freshman at Westwood High School, Austin TX. Since 1st Grade, she participated in NSF contests in regional and national level for Math and Geography.  During her middle school years she represented her school MATHCOUNTS at state level. She also participated at  National Geographic competitions for many years and stood 4th place in the state-level contest in 2018-2019 in Texas.  She qualified for the NGB state level again this year but the event was cancelled. Disha also represented her school at science bowl competitions.  Disha’s hobbies include dancing and listening to music. Now, as a junior geography coach, she would like to share her knowledge with young NSF students. 

Gargee Piplani

Gargee Piplani is a junior at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, CA. Her geography experiences start from before she entered elementary school when she started competing in NSF competitions up to 8th grade. She qualified for nationals every year from Kindergarten until 8th grade in subjects including geography, science, and math. She has achieved 6th place in the 2013 NSF Geography Finals and qualified for the 2020-2021 International Geography Bee (cancelled due to COVID-19). With her team, she also won 2nd place in the 2018 National Science Bowl Competition, representing her middle school.  In the past, Gargee has maintained a high GPA and taken rigorous courses like AP Biology, AP Calculus AB, and AP European History, scoring a 5 on each of their exams. She continues to challenge herself academically by participating in several honor societies at her school, taking 7 AP classes in various subjects, and dual enrollment with her local community college for computer science courses. Her interests include participating in competitions for Congressional Debate & Model United Nations, playing the piano, and reading. She’s extremely excited to coach Junior Geography Bee this year, after helping her younger sister prepare for the competition as well and looks forward to a great coaching session!

Indu Philip

The introduction to NSF for Indu Philip started when a neighbor , who was also the local chapter director , talked about the upcoming regional competitions.  Her two children participated in the NSF USA contests, starting from their time in elementary school. She has been one of the coaches for the fall term of the NSF Junior Geography Bee program for the past 2 years and coached the spring term in 2020 for the  Math Bee 1 Junior-level program. She lives in San Diego with her family.  Her interest in geography includes a GIS Certificate (University of California, San Diego). And having trained as an electronics engineer (M.Tech., College of Engineering, Trivandrum), hopefully explains the interest in mathematics. 

Ovia Sundar

Ovia Sundar is a freshman at Barrington Highschool in Illinois. In school, she participates in many activities, and is on the Science Olympiad and the LD Debate team. She enjoys learning and is currently taking Honors Chemistry and AP World History. She is an Honor Roll student as well. In the past, she has been a secretary in her school’s Student Council and has received the Presidential Award of Academic Excellence. She loves to draw, and runs an art Instagram account. She is passionate about language, and has done many things and volunteered for her local Tamil School where children learn Tamil, including creating worksheets for students to use in class and at home to help learn the language. She also has a passion for music and dance, and has done Carnatic (Indian) music for 10 years and Bharatanatyam (Indian) dance for 7 years. She is in her school’s varsity orchestra as well and plays the violin. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends, drawing, and listening to indie music. She has extensive experience and loves working with children, and is excited to teach her new students!

Richa Yadav

Richa Yadav is a passionate freelance writer and an enthusiastic toast master. She has a passion for Indian Culture and has been writing and teaching several courses on Indian philosophy and culture. She teaches at OLLI, University of North Texas. She has been coaching NSF kids for SAT English and Universal Values for the last 9 years, with few gap years for personal reasons. She taught her first SAT English course for NSF in 2013. She has been a Girls Scout leader for the last four years and has been a DI (Destination Imagination ) coach as well. She has her tutoring academy where she teaches English Language, Creative Writing, SAT English, AP Human Geography and AP world History. She is a certified Yoga instructor. She completed her Phd in Philosophy of Mind in 2007 from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India in 2006.

Ronald George

Ronald is a senior at the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology in Lawrenceville, GA (#12 HS nationally ranked). He will have taken 14 AP classes by the time he graduates including AP Calculus BC, AP World and US History, AP Chemistry, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Physics C: E&M, AP Computer Science A, and AP Biology. He is also currently taking dual enrollment distance courses with Georgia Tech such as Math 1554 and CS 1301. He is an honor roll and academic letter recipient and is in the national, engineering, and math honor societies at his high school. Outside of the classroom, he is heavily invested and has earned many awards in VEX Robotics, Computer Science Club, HOSA, and Technology Student Association. He is the team captain of his VEX Robotics team that qualified for the World Championship and holds officer positions in TSA and CS club. He has completed chemical engineering research and developed mobile applications using React-Native at his previous internship. He is currently working on developing a web-based application for a government company in Angular as part of his senior capstone internship.In his free time, Ronald enjoys playing sports like soccer, basketball, and tennis and watching movies with friends and family. He also loves music and plays piano and guitar in the choir at his Tamil church. He is excited to start coaching and volunteering with NSF! 

Sneha Nyshadham

Sneha is a lawyer who recently graduated from law school in May 2020 and will be practicing patent law in the Bay Area. She did her undergraduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Texas at Austin. She has experience mentoring children and enjoys exploring different countries and cultures. Thus, she is looking forward to coaching geography.

Ved Muthusamy

Ved is a junior at Northville High School in Northville, Michigan. He loves many subjects, but geography has a special place in his heart. He will be coaching SGB this year for the second time. He made the North South National Finals every year from 2012 to 2018, and made SGB Phase III in 2017(winning 5th) and 2018. He also competed in the International Geography Bee National Championships, winning 10th, 6th, and 2nd in 2017-2019, respectively. His 6th place in 2018 qualified him for the biennial International Geography Bee World Championships, where he placed 3rd globally. In 2020, he won 1st place in the International Geography Bee Global Summer League. Both the Summer League and the World Championships featured participants from 5 continents and more than 20 countries. Aside from geography, Ved also loves public speaking, which he pursued by speaking at the Extemporaneous category at Forensics(he is also the President of the Forensics club at his school) and doing North South Foundation Public Speaking. He won 1st(with a perfect score) at the Detroit Regional in Public Speaking in 2018; he also won 2nd nationally during the September virtual public speaking contest. Ved is the president and founder of the History and Geography Club at his school, and is also part of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. Ved extends his passion of social studies beyond just geography by participating in Model UN. In June, he won 2nd place, the Diplomacy Award, in the Global Virtual Model UN conference, hosted by Future We Want Model UN. Ved also loves QuizBowl, making the Varsity team in his freshman year and leading his team to two podium finishes at the tri-county level in 2019 and 2020. He was also voted unanimous Varsity QuizBowl MVP in 2019. Ved has always been an advocate for political change, volunteering for Suneel Gupta in 2018 and Joe Biden in 2020. He is also an avid Science Olympian, placing 3rd in Dynamic Planet at the 2018 Michigan State Tournament, and continues his passion by coaching students at Hillside Middle School. Ved challenges himself in school by taking many AP, IB, and Honors courses, while earning straight As. He received 5s on AP Statistics, AP US History, AP Psychology, AP World History, and AP European History, the latter two being self-studied. He also received 4s on AP Biology, AP US Government, and AP Environmental Science, with the latter two being self-studied. These scores culminated in him receiving a National AP Scholar award, as a sophomore. Ved also received the IB MYP certificate by completing an IB Personal Project, which he did by writing a book on the US-China relationship. This year, Ved is taking Honors Physics, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus, AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, AP English Language, and IB Spanish. Ved wants to go into corporate law after college. In his free time, Ved loves to listen to music, and watch any sport.
